Village Elegance is the project taken under the Mahek Producer Company which is the vocational initiative taken by AIREP (All India Rural Empowerment Program) aims to empower rural women by connecting them to our resources tools and an opportunity to work. So grace your interiors with the products made by rural artisans!! Our Journey This Diwali AIREP came forward with a unique proposal of training the rural women to make elegant lifestyle accessories and sell them in Ahmedabad. With a capital invested by one of the VT training began in making Pillow Covers Candles Lamps Designer Diyas etc. Several housewives / young girls were selected who were in a position to dedicate their afternoon hours into making these accessories. What was unique in this training was that each item was being prepared in different sections of the village and not in one community. Based on the aptitude of women from different communities they were trained to make either the pillows or the pillow covers or the candles or the diyas etc. Thus a conscious effort was made to prepare the women from each community as the specialist in at least one accessory. The training was imparted by AIREP VT.
