In the beginning of the historical Dandi March, Mahatma Gandhi presented an idea of creating a public library with the books of the Ashram. This idea of Gandhiji was published in Free Press Journal on 27 July 1933. On the very second day, Sri Rasiklal Maneklal donated Rs. 55,000/- for construction of the library and in the memory of his father, the ‘Maneklal Jethabhai Library’ came into existence. This library with the lovely name of M.J. became popular among the literary artists, literature lovers and knowledge lovers.
