Aspirations dreams hopes and hard work have been responsible for milestones galore. One such aspirations and dreams have lead to the foundation of Mudra school Of Indian classical dances in Ahmedabad Gujarat India at a time when classical dance was not household name .It was a hope devotion and earnestness of Gurus Shri Bhaskar andSmt. Radha Bhaskar Menon that lead them to take the first step in order to fulfill their dream. Their dream was to bring classical dance to every individual who had inclination interest and passion for the art and art should not be restricted and associated with certain class of people only where. Mudra School of Indian classical Dances was inaugurated on 27th August 1973 by former His Excellency Governor of Gujarat. Late Shri. K.K Vishwanathan. Since then Mudra has become a household name promoting and performing classical dances in Gujarat. Today Mudra is one among the rare and govt. Registered institution of India which teaches and performs four classical dances like Bharatanatyam (Pandanallur style) Kuchipudi Mohiniattam and Kathakali in its purest form under one Institutional roof. Thus Mudra has created a place in the hierarchy of the classical Indian dance institutions community in India. Today Mudra has branched out at four places at Drive In area Maninagar Naranpura and Chandkheda in Ahmedabad and at ONGC Nagar in Mehsana (80 kms. From Ahmedabad). Today Mudra is competently supported by young dynamic Guru's Ananth Aparna kiran Menon and Smidha Menon along with the third generation Vaishnavi Menon.Talented Gurus. Aparna Kiran Menon and Ananth Menon who are carrying ahead the legacy of senior Guru. At present the gurus are guiding around 900 student in Bharatanatyam Kuchipud i Mohiniattam and Kathakali dance forms. Around 16000 students must have been trained under Mudra since 1972. In total students at Mudra have training in practical as well as theory which is indeed a treat to watch youngsters reciting and enacting the difficult Sanskrit shlokas from Natyashastra and Abhinaya darpanam with ease and fluency fusing tradition and academics. Many students have consistently fared well in dance examinations (theory and practical) conducted every year by Bruhad Gujarat Sangeet Samithi. Many of students are recipients of gold medal for Visharad (B.A Dance) Alankar (M.A dance) exams and currently guiding Nritya Praveen (Phd.) aspirants. Couple of students have received dance scholarships from CCRT. Delhi. As much as 30 students have won 'Kal K Kalakar' competition held by Sangeet natak academy Gujarat. Many students from abroad take training in various dance forms at Mudra. Mudra has innumerable traditional items in 'Margam' to its credit to give the student training under the institution.Till date around 1200 hundred students have performed their Arangetrams under the able guidance of the Gurus.
